I stayed in a Hotel in Angeles City which is right outside Clark AFB.

While I was at Clark Airbase after my Jungle survival training a U.S. Navy helicopter crashed just outside the base. I was watching an outdoor movie on base at the time it happened and saw all of the fire and rescue equipment go out. The next morning the local newspapers reported that five U.S. Servicemen were killed in the crash. I didn't know it was Danny Petersen until I got back to Danang and got a letter from my mother.

I saw this O.V.10 get shot down near Chu Lai during a recon mission. We stayed on site until the attack jets showed up and the medivac helicopter (near right of photo) landed to assist the pilots. (neither pilot survived the crash).
